MTUC was organized on the 4th Sunday in June, 1888 with Tom Risinger, Mrs.  Sarah Ellender Risinger, Ed Dudley, Mrs. Callie Bowles Dudley, Mrs. Julia McCowen, Mrs. Mary Madison Beaird, Jasper Elkins, Mrs. Rachel Pickens Elkins, Mrs. Eliza Smith Pickens, Mrs. Susanna Risinger Henderson, Ben Henderson, Steve Beaird, Lopez McDonald, Mrs. Mary Pickens McDonald being the 25 charter members.  Others were named with uncertainty: Mrs Nep Faulkner Holley, Mrs. Sally Elkins Holley, John Gray, Mr & Mrs Buck Faulkner, Hezekiah Elkins, Bob Goyne,  Mr & Mrs. John Beaird.  Tom Risinger donated 3 acres for the church to be constructed.  This was done in 1888 with Steve Beaird helping with the construction.  Rev Henry Gathright was pastor and 15 new members were added that year.   In 1908 the 1st building was moved back and used as a school.  Salomon Ward and John Wallace helped with the 2nd building construction that same year.  After this construction the cementery was started.  The first 3 graves were (1) child of Mr & Mrs Jasper Elkins (2) infant son of Mr & Mrs Verge Upshaw (3) infant of Mr & Mrs John Burton.  MTUBC was originally a member of Concord Assoc.  It later joined Everett Assoc then this name was changed to Union Parish Baptist Assoc.  It remain that name at this time.  1948 saw the 3rd building.  Dedication services were held March 14, 1948.  John Harmon Elkins, Henry Everett, Argo Elkins and C  arl Nash made up the building committee.  Rev. Porter Lazenby was the pastor.  A  kitchen, 2 bathroom were added in 1963 along with a well dugged for water.  A youth building was the built and dedicated in July of 1975.  Since MTUBC creation, there has been 29 pastors and 1 youth minister.  This church has truly been a light through which many have found their way to Jesus Christ as their personal Savior down through the years.  May God continue to bless us and show us ways to do His will and increase our influence for good to all who may come our way or who we may contact in our daily activities.

June  5 through June 9  5:30 pm each evening, Graduation ceremony  Saturday eveing at 6:00 pm.

• All events will be held at First Baptist Church of Spearsvillle, teachers will be from Mt Union Baptis Church.

Join us this week, Wednesday December 21st, we will be singing Carols for our shut-in, meet at the church at 6:30pm
